Location: Vision Ireland Head Office, Whitworth Road, Drumcondra, Dublin 9
Contract Type: Full-time, specified purpose contract (Anticipated end date June 2026)
Working hours: 37 hours per week. Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm. Hybrid option available after probation completion.
Reporting to: Financial Controller

Vision Ireland (VI) is Ireland's national sight loss agency, our mission is to transform the lives of people who are blind or vision impaired. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Finance Assistant will primarily assist with the day-to-day operations of accounts payables of all VI companies. In addition, the person will assist in the area of accounts receivable when other team members are on leave. Where time allows, assistance may be sought for other tasks in the finance function as directed by the Financial Controller of VI.
Duties & Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
* Entry of purchase orders and purchase invoices onto the accounting system and preparing invoices for authorisation and payment.
* Preparing, processing, seeking authorisation and posting payment files to the bank and accounting system to planned deadlines.
* Setting up and cancelling direct debits and standing orders on the bank and accounting system.
* Communicating with VI managers and staff in relation to invoices, payments due, approvals and queries.
* Maintenance of vendor details on the accounting system.
* Review and reconcile supplier accounts.
* Liaising with suppliers to manage queries.
* Create purchase orders as required.
Accounts Receivable
* Creating sales invoices on the accounting system.
* Review and reconcile customer accounts, including credit control, chasing payments, answering queries.
* Weekly retail cash reconciliations.
Month End
* Bank reconciliations & transaction recordings.
* Create and upload monthly journals for income reports.
* Create and upload monthly journals for expenditure reports.
* Maintain rates payments and refunds.
* Assisting with audit queries e.g. in relation to Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable.
* Adhoc duties as required by the finance team.
You will be required to be flexible in this role and must be prepared to perform other tasks and undertake additional duties in any area of the business as determined by Management. These tasks may be outside your normal work area.
Selection Criteria:
Mandatory:
* 2 years Accounts Payable and Bank Reconciliations working experience in a Finance team.
* Experience in using accounting software packages (Sage an advantage).
* Excellent IT Skills including Microsoft Excel and Word.
* Systems focused with an eye on continued process improvement and process efficiencies.
* The ability to manage and prioritise own workload, and work with flexibility, reliability, and particular initiative to meet deadlines.
* Demonstrated relationship management skills and experience in working in a supportive manner.
* Excellent attention to detail, organisational, administrative and time management skills.
* Professional level of English is required.
