Job Title: Deputy Head of Underwriting
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Deputy Head of Underwriting to join our team in Dublin City Centre. This is a permanent role that will support our ambitious growth plans and succession planning strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
* Portfolio management responsibility for Casualty & SME portfolios, including holding profit and loss responsibility.
* Develops, leads, and implements the Casualty business strategy and drives profitable growth.
* Supports delivery of the SME business strategy in conjunction with the Head of SME.
* Collaborates with the Business Lines Transformation Project Team and supports the Head of SME on designing and implementing our new technology platform.
* Develops products, propositions, and technical skills to support them.
* Works closely with Sales & Distribution, Market Facing Underwriters, and Claims and Actuarial to enable the achievement of business plans.
* Demonstrates specialised knowledge and expertise in products and industry, leading projects to develop technical standards, controls, and practices for areas of expertise.
* Drives initiatives and action plans.
* Engages actively with customers, business partners, and influences trade and industry groups, ensuring a strong external leadership profile for the individual and the company.
Requirements:
* Ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience at a senior management level working across a Casualty or SME portfolio.
* Demonstrates advanced technical knowledge and skills reflective of a seasoned practitioner who has progressed within underwriting positions of increasing responsibility.
* High level of UW authority and involved in trade and industry bodies for area of specialism.
* Excellent knowledge of UW concepts and principles and UW metrics.
* Demonstrates tools and techniques for portfolio management.
* Strong analytical skills and decision-making ability.
* Ability to work to strict deadlines and ambitious targets.
