Join us as Senior Irish Qualified Lawyer – Consumer Technology & Contractual Compliance - (6-12 month contract)
We are looking for a Senior Irish Qualified Lawyer to join our dynamic legal and regulatory team on a contract basis for 6 – 12 months.
The ideal candidate will have experience advising on legal and regulatory matters related to the launch and operation of online marketplaces. You will play a key role as part of the cross-functional online marketplace project team supporting the launch of the marketplace, onboarding of suppliers and merchants, and development of customer propositions to ensure that the company’s business activities are compliant with Irish laws and regulations, particularly in relation to end-user protection, and digital services.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Legal Advisory: Provide expert legal counsel on a broad range of issues related to launching and operating an online marketplace in Ireland, including compliance with Irish consumer law, the Digital Services Act (DSA), and other relevant legislation.
2. Contractual Management: Oversee and manage the full lifecycle of the company’s contractual ecosystem relating to the establishment and operation of an online marketplace, including supply agreements with platform providers, enablers, and third-party merchants ensuring that all vendor agreements, terms of service, policies, and user agreements comply with applicable laws, best practices, and internal policies.
3. Compliance Oversight: Ensure that the company’s operations and platform comply with Irish and EU regulations, specifically in relation to consumer rights, online transactions, and digital marketplace rules.
4. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including product, operations, compliance, and marketing to ensure that legal considerations are embedded into business processes and platform development from inception through launch.
5. Regulatory Monitoring & Reporting: Advise on evolving Irish and EU legislation, including changes to the Digital Services Act, and consumer and end-user protection regulations. Advise senior leadership on emerging regulatory trends and ensure ongoing compliance.
6. Risk Management: Identify potential legal and regulatory risks in the business strategy and provide proactive legal solutions to mitigate those risks. Support the business in making informed decisions while ensuring compliance.
7. Training & Guidance: Provide training and legal guidance to internal teams on key regulatory topics, including consumer rights, and digital services compliance.
Qualifications & Experience:
1. Irish Qualified Lawyer: Must hold a valid Irish legal qualification with at least 5-7 years of post-qualification experience in a corporate or commercial legal setting. Experience within telecommunications, technology, e-commerce, or digital platforms is highly desirable.
2. Expert Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Irish and EU laws, particularly around consumer protection (e.g., Consumer Rights Act 2022, the DSA, and e-commerce regulations).
3. Contractual Expertise: Proven experience drafting, negotiating, and managing complex commercial contracts, including terms of service, policies, and vendor agreements for consumer-facing digital platforms.
4. Regulatory Experience: Strong understanding of the regulatory landscape impacting online marketplaces, including consumer protection, digital platforms, data protection, and other relevant compliance issues.
5. Strategic & Solution-Oriented: Ability to balance legal risk with business strategy, providing practical, solutions-oriented advice to enable the business to move forward while ensuring compliance.
6. Strong Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex legal concepts in a clear and concise manner to non-legal stakeholders.
7. Team Player: A collaborative and proactive attitude with the ability to work across departments and manage relationships with external stakeholders, including regulators and third-party vendors.
