Basic Grade Psychologist

CoAction West Cork are looking for a Basic Grade Psychologist to cover the West Cork area. This is a specific purpose full time position.
Please note that a 12 month panel may be formed from these interviews from which future permanent, temporary, part-time or full-time vacancies may be recruited for.
Job Description
This job description indicates the main functions and responsibilities of the post and is subject to review and amendment in light of changing circumstances and may include other duties and responsibilities as may be determined from time to time by the Director of Services/CEO or designated Line Manager. You will be given as much notice of such changes as possible.
Responsible to: Children's Disability Network Manager (CDCM)
Base: You will be addressing the needs of our clients throughout the West Cork catchment area. Your base will be Clonakilty Children’s Services Centre. This will be confirmed prior to commencement.
Overall Purpose of Position:
To work within the interdisciplinary team and the psychology team in the provision of a team and psychological service within West Cork Children’s Disability Network Team (WCCDNT).
Main Responsibilities:
* To provide a broad range of psychological services to children and their families, including face-to-face consultation or telehealth.
* To complete a range of psychological assessments as required.
* To provide a range of psychological interventions including behavioural support, family/sibling support, and group work.
* To liaise with children and their families regarding assessments, outcomes, interventions, and reviews.
* To actively participate in internal meetings, such as psychology meetings and family service plan meetings.
* To work as part of the interdisciplinary team and be involved in team assessments and interventions.
* To provide professional reports and participate in case conferences as required.
* To liaise with other professionals and represent the organisation at meetings and conferences.
* To keep records and submit reports as required by the CDNM.
* To provide in-service training to staff and parents as required.
* To take responsibility for continued professional development.
* To actively use supervision to benefit professional practice.
* To carry out relevant research as required.
* To keep up to date with best practice procedures and work within the parameters of the professional Code of Ethics.
General Particulars:
* This is a 35 hours per week post covering a maternity leave.
* Annual Leave – 25 days
Remuneration:
* This is in line with the HSE Psychologist Staff grade salary scale.
Other Requirements:
* Each candidate must have their own means of transport and a full driving licence.
* Original documentation for qualifications will be sought for appointment. If you hold a non-Irish qualification, it must be verified by the Psychological Society of Ireland.

Essential Qualifications:
* An honours primary degree in Psychology
* A relevant postgraduate qualification in Psychology
* Your own means of transport with applicable licence
* Be a member of, or be eligible for membership of, the Psychological Society of Ireland
Essential Skills:
* Good communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
* Skills in providing support to families with emotional and behavioural challenges.
* Ability to carry out psychological assessments for children.
* Good report writing skills and ability to plan, implement, and review programmes.
* Flexible nature capable of working individually and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and keen to develop professional skills.
Desirable Skills:
Skills in planning and delivering psychological services to children with complex developmental needs.
Essential Experience:
* Experience of working with children.
Desired Experience:
* Experience of working with children with complex developmental needs and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
