Clinical Nurse Manager Role Summary
This is a leadership role that oversees the delivery of high-quality nursing and social care services in Cahercalla Community Care. The Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) is responsible for ensuring that all residents receive individualized care, including rehabilitation residents.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure the delivery of best clinical standards and home policies are practiced at all times.
* Implement agreed rehabilitation protocols and measure resident outcomes using validated assessment tools and rehab outcome measures.
* Work with the multi-disciplinary team to maintain high standards of care.
* Identify areas of concern and develop quality improvement plans with the Director of Nursing.
* Review resident key performance indicators through clinical practices and documentation.
* Troubleshoot ongoing clinical issues and escalate to the Director of Nursing as necessary.
* Perform comprehensive assessments of residents and monitor ongoing assessments and modifications.
Medication Management:
* Supervise medication administration and compliance by nursing staff.
* Order monthly stock and compile monthly stock inventory.
* Review medication audits with the Director of Nursing and implement quality improvement plans.
* Liaise with GPs and pharmacy regarding medication reviews and audits.
Staff Supervision & Training:
* Provide leadership, guidance, supervision, and direction as required.
* Participate in training and development/performance appraisal for Staff Nurses and Care Assistants.
* Work with Care Assistants to ensure they provide high-standard direct care and a professional approach to residents.
* Assess training needs and implement in-house training, such as principles of rehabilitation model of care, infection control, medication management, palliative care, and understanding challenging behavior.
Auditing:
* Review recent admissions to ensure appropriate assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care is documented.
* Monitor standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
* Responsible for carrying out environmental and hand hygiene audits, medication audits, health and safety audits, risk assessments, and drawing up risk management plans.
* Responsible for auditing Epicare and addressing any issues related to documentation, including rehabilitation KPIs.
Residents/Relatives - Person Centre Interact:
* Interact and support residents and families daily.
* The CNM is a key point of contact for relatives and visitors and an ambassador for the home.
* Ensure complaints are swiftly dealt with at the point of contact.
Management Ability:
* Assist the Director of Nursing/ADON with responsibilities and deputize as required.
* Act as an integral member of the senior management team and communicate effectively.
* Be responsible for daily activities, including checking and managing rosters, attending handovers, reviewing resident progress, and measuring outcomes of rehabilitation residents.
* Support and develop clinical practice through a hands-on approach.
* Implement Company Health and Safety Policy to safeguard the safety and welfare of staff, residents, and others.
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes:
* BSc in General Nursing or equivalent.
* Previous managerial training/experience is an advantage.
* Registered on the NMBI live register.
* Excellent Leadership, Organisational and Communication skills.
* Sound decision-making ability.
* Ability to motivate self and others and work on own initiative.
* Results-driven.
