This role requires strong knowledge of regulatory standards, risk management expertise, and the ability to foster a culture of safety throughout the organization.
Additionally, the HSE manager will be responsible for coordinating, implementing, and maintaining clients ISO management systems for Safety, Environmental and Quality.
This role ensures clients are compliant with the accreditation standards and supports continuous improvement efforts to create a safer work environment.
The HSE manager will work closely with cross-functional teams to embed health and safety principles within all aspects of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities Health & Safety Policy Development: Develop, update, and enforce the companys health and safety policies and procedures in alignment with current regulations and industry best practices.
Ensure that all policies are communicated clearly and consistently applied across all levels of the organisation.
Risk Assessment and Management: Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards, recommend improvements, and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Develop strategies to minimise risks and prevent accidents, injuries, or incidents.
Resource Allocation: Assist in the allocation of resources based on the project schedule.
Ensure that resources are being utilized efficiently and effectively.
Identify potential resource shortages or surpluses and adjust schedules accordingly.
Training and Education: Create and implement health and safety training programs for employees, including new hire orientations, refresher courses, and specific hazard-based training.
Ensure that training materials are updated and accessible, and that training sessions meet regulatory and organisational requirements.
Incident Management: Lead investigations of accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions; prepare incident reports and maintain records in compliance with regulatory standards.
Recommend corrective actions and monitor follow-up to ensure issues are resolved.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable occupational health and safety laws and regulations.
Stay updated on regulatory changes and communicate implications to the organisation.
Management System Compliance: Assist in the development, implementation, and management of the ISO accreditation for clients that DSS manage.
Ensure the organisations policies, procedures, and practices align with standards and support a culture of safety.
Reporting and Documentation: Prepare regular health and safety performance reports, including metrics on incident rates, training completion, and risk management outcomes.
Maintain accurate records related to safety inspections, training, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
