CLINICAL NURSE MANAGER II – ONCOLOGY/HAEMATOLOGY
Temporary, Full time Role
.
This role will report to the Assistant Director of Nursing (Divisional Lead) and is accountable to the Director of Nursing.
.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish and maintain caring and therapeutic interpersonal relationships with individuals, clients, groups and communities.
- Ensure confidentiality on all clinical and non-clinical information.
- Provide a high standard of professional and clinical leadership in all aspects of nursing care.
- Act as a positive and accountable role model in providing direct patient care.
- Develop leadership skills to create a suitable environment and effective team working.
- Ensure new members to the clinical area are made feel welcome and a have adequate support.
- Seek help and advice from the Assistant Director of Nursing as appropriate.
- Ensure that delegation is appropriate to the skill level and knowledge of the individual to whom the task is delegated.
- Engage in continuing professional development by keeping up to date with nursing literature, recent nursing research and new developments in nursing management, education and practice and to attend staff study days as considered appropriate.
- Provide a high level of professional and clinical leadership.
- Support Nursing staff to achieve competency in SACT administration.
- Provide supervision and assist in the development of knowledge, skills and attitudes of staff and assigned students.
- Ensure that the Oncology/Haematology clinical nursing care provided is evidence based on most recent literature, policies and protocols.
- Ensure regular monitoring of Nursing and Para- nursing care is undertaken through audit and use the outcomes of audit to develop action plans and support their implementation. Foster a culture of audit and action-based outcomes. Have an understanding of the extent to which there is patient satisfaction with Nursing /Para nursing care.
- Understand the extent to which good working relationships are fostered and maintained throughout the nursing service and between Nursing and other disciplines.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the role:
- Are registered in the relevant division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the NMBI (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland/ Bord Altranais agus Cnaimhseachais na hEireann) or entitled to be so registered.
- Have at least 5 years post registration experience of which 2 must be in Oncology and /or Haematology clinical area.
- Candidates must demonstrate evidence of continuous professional development.
- Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability including a high standard of suitability and clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.
- Proficient in Systemic Anti- Cancer Treatment (SACT) Administration.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA:
- Higher Diploma in Oncology qualification.
