As Software Engineer focusing on OpenStack Swift Object Storage, you’ll be contributing to its development and to the development of tools for its deployment and management. You will have the opportunity to work on OpenShift Operators to optimize and support the software deployment and also on other OpenStack storage projects to support integration. Object storage has an expanding role for many key application use cases and you will have the opportunity to enhance or develop deeper expertise in both the API as well as the internal of the Swift Object storage open source project.
You will join a team of software developers working on a variety of leading edge technologies and open source projects. Red Hat is looking for people that are passionate about modern software development, continuous improvement and open source.
What you will do
* Deliver software and support for Red Hat's Openstack Cloud product
* Develop, maintain, and write software and automated tests for OpenStack Swift
* Help deliver Red Hat's strategy around OpenStack Cloud deployment and management of OpenStack Swift and OpenStack storage in general
* Develop OpenShift Operators to allow for the deployment of Red Hat OpenStack Swift
* Contribute to the writing and review of customer documentation
* Engage and assist in the resolution of software issues both from internal users and from external customers
* Contribute to the quality and success of our Red Hat products and the open source communities that serve as our foundation
What you will bring
* Comfortable working with a distributed remote international team and being located in office
* Good English written and verbal communication skills
* Experience developing in a programming language like Go and/or Python, knowledge in C, Java, or Ruby are only plus
* Experience using Linux and debugging Linux environments
* Familiarity with Cloud Storage, OpenStack, Kubernetes and related infrastructure as a service (IaaS) technologies is a plus
* Experience with distributed systems and networking is a plus
* Experience with OpenStack and OpenShift technologies would be ideal
* Open Source community experience is a plus
* Passion for solving problems, continuous improvement, teamwork and open communication are key strengths
