About the Role:
As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Project Director to lead a significant mechanical contract across a variety of large-scale projects. This role requires a proactive and well-organized individual with strong leadership skills, capable of anticipating challenges and implementing effective contingency measures. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the seamless execution of projects, maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee and manage multiple mechanical contracts from initiation to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
* Develop and execute comprehensive project plans, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
* Collaborate with engineering and design teams to ensure all projects meet client specifications and regulatory requirements.
* Conduct regular site visits and inspections to monitor progress, resolve issues, and enforce compliance with safety and quality standards.
* Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors, negotiating contracts and agreements as required.
* Take full ownership of the financial management of projects, including cost control, forecasting, and reporting.
* Ensure all work adheres to relevant legislation, industry standards, and health and safety regulations.
* Work closely with internal teams to align project objectives with business goals, providing strategic recommendations and identifying potential risks.
* Prepare proposals, bids, and commercial reports, ensuring all necessary documentation is submitted accurately and in a timely manner.
* Provide leadership and mentorship to project teams, fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
* Develop and implement cost and value procedures to maximize project profitability and efficiency.
* Issue monthly progress reports to senior management, detailing project status, risks, and opportunities.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project delivery and operational efficiency.
Candidate Requirements:
* A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
* A minimum of 10+ years of experience as a Project Director or Contracts Manager within the Mechanical industry.
* Proven experience managing mechanical packages for large-scale projects, particularly in Life Sciences, Semiconductor, or Data Centre sectors.
* In-depth knowledge of Mechanical, HVAC, and Process systems, including design, installation, and operation.
* Strong project management skills, with expertise in planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and resource allocation.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
* Ability to multitask and manage multiple complex projects in a high-pressure environment.
* Strong commercial awareness, with experience in contract negotiation and financial oversight.
* A strategic mindset with the ability to identify potential project risks and implement proactive solutions.
* Willingness to travel within Europe as required.
* A full, clean driving license.
