Job Title & Grade: Household Janitorial Staff
Location of Post: Peamount Healthcare, Newcastle, Co. Dublin
Purpose of Post: Household staff are members of the ward team, working with other ward staff to assist the patients, and at all times ensuring smooth and safe functioning in all areas of the ward. All wards care for different categories of patients and variation of duties may occur. The Clinical Nurse Manager or Nurse-in-Charge will give direction on these duties. In general, the household staff duties entail kitchen duties and ward duties.
Eligibility Criteria Qualifications & Experience:
* Good general standard of education.
* PC literacy.
* Good communication skills both written and verbal.
* Ability to work as part of a team and assist other members of staff.
* Ability to work with little supervision, while meeting high performance standards.
* An interest and commitment to providing a clean, safe environment for patients in a healthcare environment.
Janitorial Duties:
* Maintain a clean hygienic ward, which includes:
o Transporting and moving linen and waste bins.
o Terminal room cleaning.
o Using large scrubber drier machine to clean floors.
o Emptying unit bins.
o Decontamination clean of bed frames.
o Detail cleaning of units.
o Wall washing on units/corridors.
o High dusting.
Kitchen Duties:
* Taking orders for Resident and Patient meals.
* Preparation and handing out of trays for bed-bound patients.
* Setting of tables in the dining room for ambulant patients.
* Safe handling of food as it arrives to the ward.
* Maintaining correct temperature of food.
* Assisting in the serving of meals.
* Collection of used trays from wards.
* Washing dishes/food trays etc.
* Collecting and replacing jugs of water for patient use.
* Maintaining a clean hygiene kitchen at all times.
* Stock control, ordering/checking supplies with Clinical Nurse Manager/person-in-charge.
This job is flexible and other duties may arise on a day-to-day basis at the discretion of the Clinical Nurse Manager.
Terms & Conditions of Employment:
The Current Vacancy is a Permanent Part Time position. The post is pensionable. A panel may be created from which permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration may be filled. Appointment is governed by the Health Act 2004 and the Public Service Management (Recruitment and Appointment) Act 2004.
Remuneration: Salary scale from €33,240 (Point 1) to €39,379 (Point 9) effective from 1st October 2024.
Working Week: 30 hours per week, with hours allocated at the discretion of the Department Head according to service needs.
Health & Safety: Duties must be performed in accordance with the hospital health and safety policy. Staff must carry out their duties in a safe and responsible manner.
