Senior R&D Manager II – Permanent - Salary DOE Negotiable
Manager for an R&D functional group working on product and technology development projects. Devotes a significant portion of their time to managerial, leadership, organisation and staff development responsibilities. Provide technical leadership & management responsibility for product design and identification of new technology opportunities. Collaborates with cross functional peers to meet functional and business deliverables.

Key Responsibilities
* Drives functional excellence initiatives, delivers high quality R&D functional deliverables, and ensures technical excellence for product or technology development.
* Provides guidance and training to staff, assists subordinates in attaining career goals, motivates individuals to achieve results, and recruits and maintains a high-quality staff.
* Responsible for recruiting, coaching, and/or developing organizational talent.
* Provides significant guidance and approval regarding technical strategies and approaches.
* Engages with customers and Health Care Partners.
* Manages functional infrastructure and laboratory capability requirements.
* Determines project staff assignments and schedules work to meet completion dates and R&D deliverables.
* Develops and monitors department budgets.
* Ensures continued intellectual property development from self and staff.
* Manages functional infrastructure requirements.
* Often leads briefings and technical meetings for internal and external stakeholders concerning specific projects, operations or schedules; converts technical information to compelling business context and advice.
* Influences the opinions and decision making of others internally or with external partners/vendor/customers to achieve department objectives; persuades peers and higher level managers and builds consensus to take action/ adopt recommendations.
Education & Experience
* Minimum BSc or BEngr degree (NFQ 8 Level 240 credits).
* Minimum of 10 years industrial experience with at least 5 years of supervisory/management experience of large teams (experience in MedTech or Pharmaceuticals is useful).
* Demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively, manage projects, and drive innovation within a research and development setting.
* Experience in developing and implementing long-term R&D strategies aligned with business objectives.
* Proven track record of managing R&D budgets, optimizing resource allocation, and delivering projects within budget constraints.
* Experience working collaboratively with teams across various departments such as engineering, product development, marketing, and manufacturing.
* Ability to analyze complex issues, identify solutions, and make data-driven decisions to drive R&D initiatives forward.
* Experience in recruiting, mentoring, and developing a high-performing R&D team.
* Knowledge of regulatory requirements relevant to the industry and experience navigating regulatory processes.
