This association in the renewable energy space, is looking to hire a Chief Executive Officer to lead the association into its next phase of development. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with dedicated regulatory expertise and extensive knowledge of power systems engineering. You will work on electricity policy and regulation, with specific emphasis on demand side issues relating to markets and networks. The successful candidate will be responsible for advising and informing the development of regulatory and policy strategies, and ensuring members are well placed to influence policy and regulation with external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
1. Act as a confident and trusted voice and advocate for demand side flexibility in dealing with a diverse range of stakeholders.
2. Increase awareness and understanding of the benefits of demand side flexibility across the energy industry through innovative strategic branding and communications, thought leadership and engaging with media.
3. Manage the current budget to deliver maximum value to its members and ensure strong membership retention and growth, including setting the association's budget and agreeing associated membership fees.
4. Understand the overall Irish and European policy and regulatory system within which the demand side flexibility industry operates, championing changes to that system that are consistent with overall energy policy objectives and ensure that a stable environment is provided to support continued investment in demand side flexibility.
5. Lead and manage the regulatory strategy for maximum effectiveness, to include monitoring and reporting on performance and delivering regulatory requirements.
6. Research into international policy and regulatory approaches and consideration of their applicability to demand response in Ireland.
Requirements:
7. 10+ years' experience in the energy or power industry, demonstrated understanding of power systems and the benefits of demand side flexibility.
8. An ability to be a national spokesperson and public advocate for a rapidly growing high profile sector.
9. A degree and/or postgraduate qualification in economics, engineering or a closely related discipline.
10. Capable of building consensus and managing complex debate in policy formation.
11. Ability to draft documentation in a rational, evidence-based, clear and concise manner.
12. Strong technical knowledge and communication skills (written and verbal).
13. Excellent leadership, influencing, networking and organizational skills.
