This is a 6 month maternity cover position.
The position is for 5 days per week with alternating Saturdays.
Pharmacy opening hours Monday to Friday 9am-6pm, Saturday 9.30am -2pm.
No Sundays or bank holidays.
The pharmacy technician will work under the direct supervision of the Supervising Pharmacist and will carry out day to day activities connected with the preparation and supply of medicines and will provide advice to patients on the use of medicines as well as general health and lifestyle matters.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
* Using the PMR to input and prepare prescriptions to help the pharmacist to dispense medicines in accordance with standard operating procedures to ensure safe supply to patients.
* Review patients records to ensure safe and correct dispensing of medicines.
* To ensure at the point of sale, the safe and correct supply of dispensed items to patients.
* To create and update patient medication records in accordance with data protection principles to ensure patient confidentiality.
* To assist with stock control and inventory procedures to maximise availability and minimise waste.
* To ensure the safe and appropriate storage of medicines.
* To assist with the preparation of monitored dosage systems for patients on multiple medication regimes.
* To prepare monthly paperwork to allow for accurate HSE claims.
* To maintain an up -to date knowledge and understanding of pharmacy issues for the purposes of continuing professional development.

The ideal candidate will:
* At least 1 year previous Pharmacy Technician experience in community Pharmacy (Essential)
* Must be personable, punctual and well presented
* Have excellent customer service skills with examples of going above and beyond in the past
* Be organised and motivated
* Have excellent communication skills - this is key!
* Be able to work in a busy environment - keep up with high volume dispensing, processing claims, experience with blister packs and be able to multi-task and take direction.
* Ability to work on own initiative and in a team.
