Job Purpose:
Reporting directly to the Radiography Services Manager, the position of Clinical Specialist Radiographer – Interventional Cardiology has responsibility to lead, guide, and supervise Radiography staff and to successfully manage service delivery on a day-to-day basis in the Cardiovascular Laboratory Department. The ability to manage in a rapidly changing environment and willingness to undertake additional duties as may be assigned from time to time are essential.
The Cardiovascular Laboratory at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital (MMUH) is a multidisciplinary department. In addition to Radiography duties, the Clinical Specialist will liaise with Consultant Cardiologists, CNM2 Nurse Lead, CVRRE Operations Manager, Radiology Directorate Manager, Medical Physics, and the Radiography Services Managers to assist in planning and developing a quality professional service to the patient cohort.
The Cardiovascular department currently consists of 3 Cardiac Catheterisation units. This post requires that the Clinical Specialist in Interventional Cardiology will co-ordinate the usage of all of these units and is responsible for the correct usage of the systems by non-Radiography staff, in addition to ensuring that all systems are serviced and maintained to ensure optimum image quality at all times.
A key additional element of this role will be to support any service development of the Cardiovascular service in the Theatre Hybrid Fluoroscopy unit, including support for any Cardiovascular cases in the Hybrid Suite.
