SENIOR MEDIA RELATIONS MANAGER
I am currently seeking a Senior Media Relations Manager for our client, a government body. This person is responsible for the planning and implementation of PR Campaigns, responding to media queries, and developing & ensuring consistency of key messaging across all channels.
This is a hybrid position, based in Mayo.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Strategic Communications:
o Plan and implement PR campaigns aligned with clients’ strategies.
o Align communications strategies with external stakeholder engagement.
o Enhance external communications and generate positive media coverage.
o Develop and execute an annual PR plan to support organizational goals.
2. Media Relations:
o Respond to media queries in collaboration with stakeholders.
o Provide timely and accurate responses through the press office.
o Offer out-of-hours media support and crisis communications guidance.
o Monitor media coverage and provide insights to leadership.
o Advise internal teams on communication opportunities.
3. Proactive PR Engagement:
o Plan and execute proactive media events and campaigns.
o Build relationships with media to enhance public awareness.
o Promote research findings through strategic communication.
o Organize stakeholder events and provide media training for staff.
o Serve as a spokesperson when required.
4. Issue Management:
o Identify and mitigate reputational risks through strategic issue management.
o Handle Freedom of Information (FOI) and Parliamentary Questions (PQs).
5. Communications Collateral Development:
o Develop and ensure consistency of key messaging across all channels.
o Create high-quality marketing materials for diverse audiences.
o Support the digital team in leveraging online platforms for outreach.
6. Monitoring and Impact Measurement:
o Evaluate and report on PR initiatives’ effectiveness.
o Track and analyze media coverage to inform strategy improvements.
o Foster a culture of impact-driven communication efforts.
REQUIREMENTS:
Essential:
* Extensive experience in public relations and media engagement.
* Proven ability to develop and implement PR programs successfully.
* Strong experience in issue management and crisis communication.
* Previous experience as a media spokesperson.
Desirable:
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Results-driven with a proactive, can-do attitude.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Digital-first approach to PR strategies.
* Collaborative team player.
