Description
University Hospital Kerry (UHK) opened in 1984 and is a model 3 hospital within the South/South West Hospital Group. Under the management of an Executive Management Team, including General Manager, Clinical Director, Director of Nursing, and Director of Midwifery, the hospital provides acute general hospital services to the population of Co. Kerry, West Limerick, and North Cork.
UHK is a site for clinical placements for student midwives and student nurses in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes delivered in partnership with Munster Technological University, Tralee, and University College Cork.

* Upgrade of Operating Theatre environment
* Reconfiguration of Medical Floor and Critical Care services
* Development of stand-alone Maternity/Gynaecology and neonatal services
* Expansion of Oncology services
* Further expansion of the laboratory
Purpose of Post
To provide professional and clinical leadership in designated areas of responsibility, oversee resource management including staffing and staff development, and facilitate communication across healthcare teams.
The CNM 3 has a pivotal role in service planning and development, coordinating and managing activity and resources within the clinical area. Responsibilities include overseeing the quality of nursing care, developing and implementing policy and procedures, monitoring activity, and delivering agreed levels of service.
