Post SummaryThe Legal Deposit Librarian has operational responsibility for the Library's legal deposit acquisitions.
Legal deposit materials comprise Irish and UK publications in all formats: monographs and serials, as well as print and digital, including websites.
The post-holder leads a team of Library Assistants, including a supervisor on the Executive 1 grade, who claim, receipt and process this material for storage and consultation by readers.
Close cooperation with the other units within Acquisitions & Metadata, and at times within the wider Library, is essential.
The Legal Deposit Librarian advocates for the goals and benefits of legal deposit, builds good working relationships with Irish publishers directly, and indirectly with UK publishers via the Agency for the Legal Deposit Libraries in Edinburgh.
The post-holder is a key contributor to the work arising from the close partnership with the other five Legal Deposit Libraries named in both UK and Irish law and fosters co-operation with the additional seven institutions named in Irish law only.
Where appropriate, the post-holder contributes to the management and strategic development of all workflows across Acquisitions & Metadata.
Post status: Permanent Hours of Post: 35 hours per week Salary: This appointment will be made on the Assistant Librarian 1 Salary Scale (€57,270 - €87,019 per annum) at a point in line with current Government pay policy.
