Generous annual leaveTraining & DevelopmentPositive working environmentBike to work schemeWhat is the role and the service?We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated social care project worker to join our family support services team in Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin.
The purpose of this role is to identify and support the needs of families in the community.
We provide a range of services including parenting support with opportunities for children (0-2) to experience play, development and education with their parent or guardian.
We work with young people around personal challenges, substance misuse and provide support and opportunities for growth and development.
My Project works with children, young people and their families towards developing constructive relationships, effective communication, and common advocacy.
Services are available Monday to Friday.
What does day to day look like?In this role, you will work directly with families by implementing processes and programmes that respond to the needs of those referred to the service.
You will be responsible for assessing needs, planning, implementing and reviewing interventions and their outcomes.
You will work with children, young people and their families in a variety of ways including individual, family and group work, centre based and outreach work.
Working collaboratively with families and other statutory, voluntary and community bodies, attending and contributing to team meetings, case conferences and reviews as required.
Effective administration around case notes, reports and statistics as appropriate to the role.
What experience do I need?Minimum 2 years experience working with children, young people and familiesExperience of planning, implementing and reviewing individual interventions and programmes with children and familiesThe ability to work under pressure and to work within a teamA commitment to best practice, an innovative approach, flexible and open to change.Ability to form professional and objective relationships with children, young people, their families / carers and other stakeholdersAn understanding of family dynamics, youth mental health, substance misuse, hidden harm, separated families, DVA, homelessnessAdditional training in areas such as Parenting Support Programmes, Mental Health Support, Recovery SupportKnowledge & ValuesA commitment to the values and principles of My ProjectA commitment to children's rights and the rights of the familyAn understanding of the impact of drug and alcohol misuse on young people and the hidden harm effects on children who experience substance misuse within the familyAn understanding of child welfare, protection laws and policies relating to children and young peopleYes, for this role you will hold a recognised third level qualification (minimum level 7) awarded by the National Qualifications Framework (NFQ) QQI in:
Social Care Practice / Youth & Community Work
Additional Information:A full driving licence and access to the use of a suitable insured vehicle desirable.
