CSSD / Endoscopy Decontamination Operative
The post holder will be responsible for the provision of a decontamination service to all clinical areas within the hospital.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
* Decontamination sterilization of all medical devices.
* Transport of sterile items.
* Storage of sterile items.
* Stock control.
* Complete traceability on tracker system.
* Disinfection, inspection, packaging and sterilization of medical devices.
* Adhering to all policies and procedures.
* To work with others as part of a team.
* All CSSD staff must understand the importance of confidentiality.
Professional Accountability and Development:
* Ensure you remain professionally updated and ensure care in all areas is delivered in line with the latest research to promote evidence-based practice in patient care.
* Provide a supportive and learning environment in the Hospital, which enables the educational and professional development needs of staff to be met.
* Ensure that statutory rules, guidelines and legislation are understood and complied with.
* Act as a positive role model with regards to the Hospital ethos.
Quality & Audit:
* Participate and assist as required in clinical audit and research activity within the field.
* Work closely with the Quality and Patient Safety team, ensuring the department is meeting accreditation standards at all times.
Health and Safety:
* Uphold UPMC Kildare Hospital's policy requirements in relation to Fire, Infection Control, Radiation Safety and Health and Safety at work regulations.
* Identify potential risks for all staff, patients and visitors and adhere to relevant incident reporting procedures.
Qualifications & Experience:
* The Post holder must hold the following to fulfil the requirements of this post: At least 1 year's experience in a CSSD, Pharmaceutical or clean room industry.
* Knowledge of Theatre Instruments is desirable.
* Previous experience in patient care - desirable.
