Join our dedicated High Voltage Cables Team in TDD, where you will provide specialist engineering services to our Networks Engineering HV Cables Department. You will have the opportunity to lead the Networks HV Cables Design Team which will have responsibility for the design of High Voltage underground cable systems and technologies for ESB Networks. There is also potential within the role to also support the HV Networks Cables project portfolio more broadly by providing strategic input into the overall delivery of the technical aspects of the projects.

Key Responsibilities
* Lead the Networks Cable Standards/Design Team;
* Proactively manage resources, including implementing design systems/tools to deliver engineering standardisation and quality processes for the Networks HV Cables Department that are safe and cost-effective manner;
* Produce a design and standardisation implementation strategy for Networks HV Cables Department with a focus on safety, budget and programme identifying Key Project Indicators;
* Develop technical expertise and promote Continual Professional Development across the Networks HV Cables Department through leadership, coordination and mentoring of staff on cable design, manufacturing, construction and testing;
* Develop and manage appropriate systems for supporting the ordering, tracking and delivery of all cable and accessories for projects in line with respective project programmes;
* Chair monthly design forum working groups to address design issues, develop improvement plans and where applicable, produce process maps or similar process documentation;
* Production of specifications, technical enquiry documents including evaluation of tender enquiry frameworks;
* Coordinate development and implementation of Networks HV Cables Departmental Safety & Quality Improvement Plans;
* Identify and evaluate cable technology innovations and new applications applicable to HV Cable project delivery;
* Develop and manage knowledge management systems for the group consistent with ESB’s digital strategy. This includes the development and updating of a smart database for non-standard engineering solutions;
* Ensure all effort is captured and tracked in appropriate programmes on project server and that sufficient cost centres are available for the Networks Cables Standards Team;
* Manage the development and delivery of training documentation and courses by the Networks Cables Standards team.
Experience and Qualifications
* A track record in the design and delivery of large-scale underground cable projects from project initiation through to commercial close with a commitment to safety, budget, quality, project program and client satisfaction;
* Level 8 Engineering degree with a minimum of 10 years' relevant post qualification experience in cable design and project management;
* Strong commercial focus through having a clear understanding of the business case for underground cable projects;
* Experienced in contract preparation and evaluation for major civil works contracts;
* Experience of working from own initiative, taking ownership of work / projects and motivating team members to deliver team objectives or projects;
* Ability to clearly plan and communicate the requirements to progress specific projects or new initiatives;
* Proficient in HSEQ Standards for onshore cable projects;
* Self-motivation – strong commitment to achieve the business objectives of our organisation; dedication to achieving excellence in our activities;
* Possess a management style which encourages a culture of involvement, teamwork, and individual development displaying Leadership, Teamwork and Managing People Competencies;
* Full drivers licence valid for use in the ROI, access to a car and flexibility to travel nationwide;
* PSDP Competency (or CDMC equivalent);
* Chartered Engineer Status.
Location
This role is based in either ESB E&MP Dublin or Cork offices but travel to project locations as required, is a key requirement of the role.

The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least one anchor day per week. All smart working arrangements are subject to manager approval and ongoing review, based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the individual.
