We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our team at one of Ireland's leading energy suppliers. Our company provides gas, electricity, and energy to over homes and businesses across the country. We are involved in multiple large-scale energy initiatives with ambitious targets for reducing carbon emissions.
Role Purpose:
This is a key role within our Net Zero project team, reporting to the Net Zero Lead. As the Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the development and delivery of upstream Net Zero investment opportunities on behalf of the organization.
About the Role
* Support the identification, appraisal, and development of new Net Zero development projects, including Green Hydrogen, Green Ammonia, Energy Storage, New Power Generation, Carbon Capture & Storage, Biomethane, and Biofuels.
* Lead project development in collaboration with technical leads/subject matter experts.
* Take initial development engineering concepts through evaluation and design phases, providing detailed technical scope of works and plans to support the project delivery phase.
* Undertake detailed assessments of all development projects in terms of design and quality planning for civil, mechanical, electrical, and IT engineering aspects.
* Manage project development budgets, resources, and subcontract elements.
* Responsible for project development costs, risk, communications, procurement, and stakeholders.
* Support upstream business development and net zero targets through project management activities associated with grid analysis, land acquisition, planning application oversight, and technical feasibility.
* Analyse and address project development risks, regularly sharing lessons learned.
* Provide performance feedback regarding allocated resources working on projects.
* Prepare and present project delivery plans to Executives, Management team, Board, and Shareholders.
* Work closely with various disciplines to deliver optimal solutions.
* Inform and drive consistent commercial thinking across projects and relevant business areas.
* Maintain good working knowledge of key commercial and regulatory value drivers for delivering upstream assets in the Irish Market.
Experience required:
* 3rd Level Qualification in relevant discipline with a minimum 7 years post qualification experience and industry knowledge.
* Project Management experience across conventional, renewable, and energy-enabling infrastructure assets.
* Understanding of regulatory and operational market landscape.
* Excellent analytical skills and detail-oriented.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Able to manage involvement in simultaneous initiatives, deliver work to agreed deadlines, and work well with a variety of individuals.
