Job purpose
To manage the tendering process ensuring the integration of all disciplines involved in the process to maximise any benefit in producing a tender bid.
To provide tender costs for construction projects for adjudication ensuring a competitive net bid.
Where appropriate supervising and coaching less experienced estimators to assist in their career development.
Duties and responsibilities
Responsible for:
Liaise with Pre- Construction Director on opportunities.
Check and acknowledge tender documents and amendments.
Abstract information into subcontract and material packages and select supply chain.
Organise copy of tender documents and amendments for appropriate parties.
Manage and/or produce an accurate net cost estimate.
Ensure Tendering processes are fully implemented.
Liaise with Client/Design Team during tender process and arrange meeting if required.
Answer queries from subcontractors/suppliers during bid process.
Identify scope for design alternatives and value engineering, discussing with appropriate bid team members.
Cost up Prelims.
Highlight any areas of concern / risk in cost proposal.
Compile Tender Summary Sheet and ensure final TSS is distributed.
Attend Adjudication Meeting and present a net tender.
Complete Form of Tender and tender letter with any qualifications.
Agreement with Pre- Construction Director /Managing Director on pricing and qualifications of risk.
Complete Contract Sum Analysis/Schedule if necessary.
Check proposals prior to submission.
Attend post tender negotiations with Client.
Enter final tender information in tender log and ensure this is maintained.
Prepare information packages for handover to construction team, if successful.
Attend handover meeting and brief team on tender bid.
Attend Design Team Meetings, if Design & Build.
Support the training and development of Estimating resources.
Undertake project debrief, eliciting feedback from sites.
Ensure supply chain is regularly refreshed in line with procurement / construction activities to meet the company’s needs.
Develop client / specifier relationships to enhance opportunities to tender, negotiate and enhance tender margins.

ACIOB / SCSI
Construction Management or Surveying third level qualification
