Job Title: Engineering Officer
Position Overview
The Engineering Officer is responsible for designing safe networks within their discipline. These design packs will be used by ESB Networks staff and/or contractors to carry out work safely on the Electricity Network.
Key Responsibilities
* Preparing high quality designs, calculating costs, and preparing capital approvals, work authorisations, protection settings, design drawings.
* Measuring design clearances for 38kV, MV, and LV networks, including use of all associated IT systems.
* Liaising and negotiating with Local Authorities, landowners, and other parties to obtain routes for underground cables and overhead lines in accordance with legislation and ESB policies.
* Compliance with legislation and ESB Policy in relation to obtaining consent from landowners, including issuing wayleaves.
* Applying for and processing Road Opening Licences, cable easements, and forestry easements as required.
* Managing own design workload as agreed with the relevant Design Manager.
* Delivering an excellent customer service in line with ESB Networks Customer Charter.
Requirements
* Advanced Level 6 Electrical Craft Certificate or suitable Level 7 qualification in Electrical, Electrical Services, Electronics, Mechanical, or other alternative qualification with electrical theory content.
* Minimum 3 years relevant experience.
* Ability to translate scope and policy requirements into constructable designs.
* Knowledge of ESB network assets, substations, lines, cables, protection, and metering.
* Full clean EU driving licence.
Additional Information
This position will be based in Killarney. The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least one anchor day per week.
The successful candidate will report to the relevant Design Manager, Delivery Assurance South, Network Customer & Project Delivery.
