We are looking for Network Development Engineers to provide technical thought leadership in the design of our next-generation networks. As we look to the future, our networks will support an ecosystem of robotics, industrial IoT, sensors, drones, and mobile devices. You are comfortable with making data motivated decisions, and iterating on designs that may fail at the outset to ultimately deliver robust systems that elegantly scale. Information security and network reliability are at the core of your thought processes.
Flexible working
This position is Dublin office-based, with the flexibility to work remotely up to two days per week in line with Amazon’s current flexible work guidance. Amazon encourages open communication about unique needs for flexible arrangements.
The team operates a follow-the-sun on-call rotation, with a frequency of one week on call in every five weeks. The rotation is day-time only during working hours Monday to Sunday, with handoffs between the India, Dublin, and North America (NA) teams. The on-call engineer represents the Network Reliability team during event with customer impact in production and coordinates efforts to quickly mitigate customer impact across these regions.

A day in the life
In this role you will operate the largest fulfillment network in the world, and provide guidance to and mentoring to network support teams to develop their skills and reinforce best practices. Network reliability is critical to Amazon Operations, and your responsibilities will include driving root cause resolution of network events most impact-full to the business.

The OTIE LAN Ops & Reliability Team has broad scope supporting multiple business units globally, from the smallest delivery stations in emerging markets, to the most advanced automated fulfillment centers in North America, Japan, and Europe. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
-Bachelor’s degree in relevant area
-Experience in automation via Bash/Shell scripting and Perl/Python programming
-Experience in designing and operating large-scale, production networks
-Experience with major routing protocols, specifically BGP and OSPF
-Experience with routing and switching hardware from major vendors including Juniper and Cisco
-Ability to work on a diverse team with a diverse range of coworkers
-Experience with internet routing protocols and concepts: TCP/IP, BGP, MPLS, ISIS and/or OSPF
-Experience with network operating systems such as Cisco IOS and Junos
-Experience working in a Linux/Unix environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
-Master’s degree in relevant area
-Development and delivery of large scale designs in data center networks
-Experience with IPv6 Design and implementations
-Proficiency in wide area networking (including SDWAN), wireless networking, and industrial Ethernet
-Expertise in information security for industrial control systems
-A genuine passion for building systems that are simple and work well
