Telephone Triage Nurses
Role: Telephone Triage Nurse - Blended
Reporting to: Clinical Nurse Lead/ Clinical Quality & Nurse Manager
Contract: Permanent (after completion of successful probationary period). Flexibility required.
19 hour contracts available; working shift rotas: evening, overnight, weekend and public holidays.
Locations: Central Call Centre, St. Camillus Hospital, Limerick city with a blended approach working from Home.

Telephone Triage Nurse responsibilities include:
* Interacting with patients over the phone, using clinical software together with professional judgement and training to assess patient symptoms.
* Practicing in accordance with and maintaining a good working knowledge of all ShannonDoc policies, procedures, and guidelines. Maintaining nursing records and documentation to a high standard.
* Providing treatment, advice, or direction based on the protocols, guidelines, and clinical software provided by the company.
* Liaising with all other members of the multidisciplinary team when required.
* Ascertaining the urgency of the patient’s medical need at the time of the call and directing them to the most suitable level of medical care (GP, ED, ambulance, Nurse advice).
* Maintaining patient safety.
* Providing nursing care in accordance with NMBI Code of Professional Conduct and scope of practice framework.
* Engaging in continuous professional development.
Essential Requirements
* NMBI Registered General Nurse (RGN) with 3 years post registration experience.
* Clinical Knowledge with a broad range of experience to support the ability to clinically assess patients over the phone and support independent clinical decision making.
* Recent experience and/or qualification in at least one of the following disciplines:
o Accident and Emergency
o Paediatrics
o Practice Nursing
o Obstetrics
o Mental Health
Qualifications/Skills:
* Basic IT skills required.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office, desirable.
* Excellent Communication Skills inclusive of written and verbal communication.
* Proactive with good initiative.
* Friendly, courteous and professional manner.
* Professional Phone etiquette.
* Strong Organisational skills and efficient time management.
* Maintain the organisation’s strict code of confidentiality in all dealings.
* Ability to work as part of a team and/or own initiative.
Extensive Training Programme will be provided to acquire & enhance skills outlined below
Initial training will be required on site in Shannondoc Call Centre, Limerick
