Our client is seeking a Senior Social Worker (PQSW with three years post-qualification experience) to join the Psychiatry of Later Life Team at Mullingar. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced social worker to provide specialist mental health support to older adults in a multidisciplinary setting.
Role Overview
As a Senior Social Worker, you will play a key role in providing psychosocial assessments, therapeutic interventions, and care planning for older adults experiencing mental health challenges. You will work collaboratively with a team of psychiatrists, nurses, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals, ensuring a holistic and person-centred approach to care.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Social Worker:
* Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments and develop individualised care plans.
* Provide therapeutic interventions to support older adults and their families.
* Advocate for patients, ensuring they have access to the appropriate supports and resources.
* Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to case discussions and service planning.
* Offer guidance and mentorship to junior social workers and other staff as required.
* Maintain accurate clinical records in compliance with HSE policies and professional standards.
Essential Criteria for the Senior Social Worker:
* CORU registration as a Professionally Qualified Social Worker (PQSW).
* Minimum of three years post-qualification experience, meeting Senior Social Worker criteria.
* Experience working in mental health, older adults, or a similar setting.
* Strong knowledge of mental health legislation, safeguarding policies, and social work interventions.
* Excellent communication, advocacy, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
