Principal Cloud Engineer – Galway/Hybrid
Our client, a leading Financial Services provider, has an opening for an experienced Principal Cloud Engineer/Technical Lead to join their team to aid in the development of high-quality applications to service the financial trading industry.
As a Principal Cloud Engineer, you will work within a diverse team comprised of passionate technologists who believe in the power of innovation and constant collaboration. The cloud team is passionate about open-source contribution and sharing expertise and knowledge with the engineering community while adopting a continuous learning approach, supported by a dedicated learning day each week where engineers can explore areas that interest them.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Computer Systems Networking, Information Systems/Science, or a closely related discipline.
2. Hands-on working experience with AWS and cloud services and technologies, preferably with accompanying certification(s).
3. Experience writing application code in any of the following: TypeScript, Java, Python.
4. Experience in scripting languages such as Groovy and/or Bash.
5. Project leadership skills to gather requirements, track issues and risks, and break down complicated work into smaller units.
6. Technical leadership skills to advocate for new tools and/or technologies.
7. Technical architect skills to design holistic technical solutions based around fundamental design patterns and principles.
8. Familiarity with, and willingness to learn more about, CI/CD pipelines, supporting infrastructure, system and security configurations, Pipelines as Code, and Infrastructure as Code.
9. Desire to identify complicated problems and creatively explore solution options, regardless of technology.
10. Passion to improve the developer experience by making development easier and more efficient.
11. Eagerness to learn new technologies.
12. Willingness to practice and promote progressive engineering standards.
13. Ability to stay current with the latest engineering trends and practices and bring them to the team when appropriate.
14. Knowledge of the SCRUM/Agile development practices and proven collaborative work style.
Full working rights in the Republic of Ireland are required in order to be considered for this role, without restriction or need for visa sponsorship (i.e., Stamp 4 visa, EU citizenship).
