We are currently looking for an Agricultural Liaison Officer to join our Advantage Team to support our Wexford and Midlands area. This is an excellent opportunity to join a market leader in the Beef Sector who is growing the business beyond market expectations, with People as one of our core strategic pillars.
As an Agricultural Liaison Officer for ABP, your duties and tasks will include:
1. Represent ABP, be the face of the business and the direct point of contact for our suppliers.
2. Provide on-farm advice and guidance to our beef farmers & customers on a range of topics including genetics, soil health, nutrition, and sustainability measures.
3. Liaise with the Procurement Team on a regular basis.
4. Develop and deliver the agreed business plans for your area.
5. Work with our suppliers directly to identify and evaluate their business or technical requirements on a one-to-one basis.
6. Attend public events as part of a team to represent the Advantage brand.
7. Support farmers in planning for and implementing improved management practices.
8. Coordinate and deliver local dissemination events such as farm walks and meetings with media outputs.
9. Write advisory leaflets, technical notes, and articles when required.
10. Perform administrative duties, preparing reports and updating data on a regular basis.
11. Keep up to date with relevant developments in the agri-business sector.
12. Assist in developing knowledge transfer initiatives and provide regular updates to senior management.
13. Travel from supplier to supplier, representing the ABP Advantage brand, and showcasing our offering.
Key Requirements:
1. Third level degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline is desired.
2. 1-2 years experience in a similar role.
3. Expert agricultural knowledge and ability to demonstrate best practices and research data.
4. Understanding the need to identify and implement practical applications to enhance the capabilities of farms & other enterprises.
5. Ability to keep up to date with the latest methods that may give farmers a competitive edge.
6. Excellent interpersonal skills and problem-solving abilities.
7. Strategic agility and a drive to achieve results.
8. Practical experience and a sound knowledge of farm management.
9. Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
10. Ability to build and maintain relationships.
11. Technical and analytical ability including good IT skills.
12. Excellent organisational and time management skills.
13. Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
14. Dairy and beef farm experience preferable (personal or professional).
15. Technically strong on animal nutrition and husbandry.
16. Valid clean driving license.
17. Flexible and willing to travel.
