Speech and Language Therapist
My client, an acute hospital based in Dublin, is looking for a Speech and Language Therapist who will provide high-quality assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of communication and/or swallowing disorders to patients referred to the service. The role involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team to support patient recovery, improve quality of life, and facilitate safe discharge planning where relevant.
Key Responsibilities of Speech and Language Therapist
* Deliver clinical SLT services to inpatients and/or outpatients with communication and/or swallowing difficulties.
* Carry out detailed assessments and maintain accurate clinical records in line with hospital and national guidelines.
* Develop and implement individualised therapy plans in collaboration with patients, families, and the wider care team.
* Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, case conferences, and discharge planning.
* Contribute to service development, clinical audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
* Provide training and education to patients, carers, and staff as needed.
* Maintain ongoing CPD and contribute to the learning and development of students or junior staff.
* Adhere to hospital policies, HSE protocols, and professional standards as set by CORU and the Irish Association of Speech and Language Therapists (IASLT).
Requirements of Speech and Language Therapist
* A recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy approved by CORU.
* Demonstrated clinical experience working with adults (or relevant population depending on the role).
* Postgraduate training in dysphagia management would be desirable.
* Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
* Knowledge of best practices and evidence-based approaches in SLT.
