Job Purpose
Murphy is looking for an experienced Project Manager to support the Transport and Infrastructure division (civils). The candidate will manage the delivery of projects up to €30m in value, ensuring that the scope of works is delivered safely, on time, to the required quality standards, meeting acceptance criteria and achieving expected financial outcomes.
Responsibilities:
Building and leading the project team
* Organise the project team to deliver the contracted scope of works.
* Manage the project team, providing guidance and direction.
* Support the professional development of the project team.
* Undertake line management responsibility of allocated operational and functional resources.
* Ensure appropriate communication and coordination of the project resources.
* Chair regular project team meetings, ensuring actions are recorded and closed out.
Delivery of project scope
* Accountable for the delivery of the project, ensuring it is completed safely, on time, in accordance with contract requirements and to the agreed budget.
* Identify, understand and deliver project requirements.
* Identify issues and ensure they are resolved in a controlled and timely manner.
* Refer significant/strategic issues to the overseeing manager and work with them to ensure they are managed and resolved.
* Lead the identification, assessment and documentation of risks and opportunities. Develop and implement action plans to mitigate risks and enhance opportunities.
* Manage the “fit to start” process to ensure mobilization is controlled and timely.
* Ensure effective, comprehensive and formal handover from the work winning team to the delivery team.
* Ensure compliance with company standards, policies and procedures.
* Develop and maintain effective communication and relationships with Clients and other project stakeholders.
* Manage and resolve conflicts with Clients or project stakeholders.
* Represent Murphy to Clients and external stakeholders, embodying our vision, values and purpose.
Contract
* Ensure contract requirements are understood and adhered to by the project team.
* Administer and discharge contract requirements appropriately.
* Implement robust change control processes.
Programme
* Develop, review and update contract programmes in accordance with contract requirements.
* Plan and schedule project works at an appropriate level of detail.
* Communicate programme information to the project team.
* Update the programme regularly to identify changes and potential issues.
Project controls
* Develop, implement and regularly update project controls.
* Review project controls information to identify issues or areas of concern.
* Maintain detailed records and allocation sheets for all aspects of the project.
* Implement output and productivity measurement for key activities/trades.
Forecasting and cost control
* Develop and regularly review detailed cost forecasts for the project.
* Develop resource forecasts aligned with the programme.
* Review actual costs and identify variances to the budget.
* Manage and control spend in line with forecasts.
Supply chain management
* Support procurement of suppliers and sub-contractors.
* Manage and coordinate suppliers and sub-contractors appropriately.
* Administer supplier and sub-contractor contracts/orders appropriately.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
* 10 years’ experience in the civil engineering industry.
* Degree in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
* Appropriate safety training and qualification (e.g. IOSHH).
* Experience in project management of engineering projects.
* Technical knowledge appropriate to the nature of works.
* Awareness of construction contracts administration.
* Client and stakeholder management experience.
* Project team management experience.
* Experience in developing and maintaining forecasts and budgets.
* Knowledge of project controls.
* Working knowledge of planning & programming.
* Strong written, oral and numeracy skills.
* Commercial and contractual awareness.
* Professionally qualified or working towards qualification.
