Job Title: Staff and Senior Occupational Therapist – Older People’s Mental Health Services
About the Role:
The Psychiatry of Later Life Community Team in Mullingar is looking for enthusiastic and skilled Staff and Senior Occupational Therapists to join our multidisciplinary team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with older adults experiencing mental health challenges, providing care that promotes independence, dignity, and an enhanced quality of life.
In this community-based role, you will have the chance to make a meaningful difference by delivering client-centered interventions, supporting recovery, and contributing to service development. Senior therapists will also have the opportunity to lead and mentor junior staff.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Deliver comprehensive occupational therapy assessments for older adults with mental health needs.
2. Develop and implement individualized intervention plans to support functional recovery and well-being.
3. Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide holistic, patient-centered care.
4. Provide education and support to patients, families, and caregivers.
5. Participate in service development and quality improvement initiatives.
6. Senior OTs will also provide leadership, supervision, and mentoring to junior staff.
Requirements:
1. A recognized qualification in Occupational Therapy.
2. Current CORU registration as an Occupational Therapist.
3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Experience working in mental health or with older adults is highly desirable.
5. For the Senior role: Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience, with at least one year in mental health.
