New Manufacturing Facility in Kilkenny
Our new manufacturing facility in Kilkenny reflects the growing demand for Abbott's global Diabetes Care products. The facility will be a center for world-class engineering, quality, medical device manufacturing, and other science-based professionals to produce life-changing technologies that enable people with diabetes to live the best and fullest lives they can.
Your Role at Abbott
As a Technical Materials Specialist, you will work closely with various ADC stakeholders, including Validation, PMO, Operations, Supply Chain, Global Engineering, Quality, and the wider Technical Services team. This is a dynamic, multi-disciplinary role that requires the ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently with minimal oversight.
Responsibilities
* Support the preparation of protocols, Engineering test scripts, and reports to ensure compliant implementation of new components across all factories and production lines.
* Support Supplier Quality, Ops QA, and CAPA teams with component-related investigations.
* Support the development of new processes to ensure smooth running of the materials function and effective integration with other cross-functional processes.
* Support the development of new materials procedures and work instructions.
* Support the preparation and review of Engineering Change requests (ECs) and Change Impact Assessments (CIAs).
* Work with the OpEx team to support the development of Power BI trackers and dashboards to capture relevant materials KPIs and metrics.
* Support the development of a Components Defect Library and roll-out awareness training to all relevant Operations and Quality functions.
* Support the preparation and oversight of all line trial requests and liaise with Material Planners in scheduling same.
* Represent the materials team at daily production and CFT project meetings.
* Support relevant site teams for BOMs and Agile-related work.
* Through training and experience, become a product knowledge expert across all ADC KKY materials.
* Act as delegate for the Material Engineering Manager when required.
* Apply LEAN methodologies to drive operational excellence.
* Participate in cross-functional activities as necessary to ensure continual improvement, safety, and compliance.
* Identify areas of improvement and risk.
* Ensure compliance with industry standards and global regulations.
* Learn, challenge, develop, and maintain a working knowledge of Abbott Quality Policy and Procedures.
