This role reports to the Head of Planning & Controlling of the Health LoB and is responsible for the P&L planning, reporting and analysis for portfolios within the Health LoB and business partnering with the sales, underwriting and actuarial teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business partner with the sales, underwriting and actuarial teams and be the main point of contact within the P&C team on analysis of the topline and commercial results.
2. Provide business partnering and finance support to the business on strategic projects and initiatives.
3. Be a key contributor to the development of the organisations 3 year financial plan by liaising with relevant business areas to gather requirements. Proactively review and challenge the financial plans and understand key drivers and assumptions.
4. Work closely with the rest of the Health Planning & Controlling team to coordinate, consolidate and submit the annual plan.
5. Produce accurate and timely P&L forecasts for the health LOB, understanding the drivers of the monthly results to date, deviations to the annual plan, and liaise with the business to understand expected results for the remainder of the year.
6. Proactively work to identify risks/opportunities to achievement of the plan/forecast and work with the wider team to identify potential actions to mitigate the risk or realise the opportunity.
7. Assist as required with the production of month end P&L analysis that enables the business to understand the financial performance of each portfolio and drivers of variances to plan, forecast and prior year.
8. Deliver clear and concise analysis and commentary on the health LoB’s P&L performance to be included in reports to various stakeholders including senior management and Group.
9. Contribute new ideas to improve the quality and accuracy of the P&L reporting and analysis across all portfolios within health and lead the implementation of changes and enhancements.
10. Support with the training and coaching of other finance analysts within the team.
Key Requirements/What you bring
1. Bachelor’s degree in finance/ business/ economics or related subjects (e.g. applied mathematics).
2. Minimum of 5 years’ experience within a financial planning and analysis team for an international insurer.
3. Strong IT skills, proficiency in MS Office, statistical programs, Excel and database.
4. Experience of finance business partnering with sales, underwriting and operational departments.
5. Experience of business partnering and presenting to senior management.
6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team environment and to collaborate effectively across departments.
7. Motivated self-starter with ability to take ownership of tasks and deliver results within agreed deadlines.
8. An analytical and inquisitive nature with ability to deliver results to a high standard of accuracy with particular attention to detail.
9. Excellent command of English language (oral and written).
