Huber Corporation and belongs to the Division of HUBER ENGINEERED MATERIALS, producing at Bergheim site more than 100 chemical specialty products on the basis of aluminum hydroxide, alumina, and UF resins for numerous industrial applications. Position Summary
As a Logistics & Shipping Manager, the successful candidate will serve the Marble Hill, Georgia calcium carbonate plant as the responsible and leading party of ensuring excellence through shipping, logistics, inventory management, and warehouse operations. The Logistics & Shipping Manager will manage a team of shipping employees and be the primary liaison between the Marble Hill Operations, HEM Central Logistics, Customer Care teams, and transportation/warehousing partners. This role will be responsible for effective and efficient deployment of approximately 750K tons of calcium carbonate shipments annually.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
* Manage inventory at Marble Hill warehouse and offsite warehouse.
* Responsible for a team consisting of a Logistics Supervisor and upwards of eight (8) hourly Shipping Operators.
* Manage scheduling of transportation, inventory, and logistics software processes.
* Collaborate with Production Manager on product planning/supply.
* Develop and implement cost-effective solutions for supply chain processes.
* Analyze data from shipping and delivering processes to find bottlenecks and other issues.
* Evaluate and report on KPIs.
* Maintain an accurate and up-to-date shipping schedule and resolve any overloaded situations.
* Coordinate bulk and van truck scheduling with Truck Transportation Vendors, Customer Service, Operations, and Sales & Operations Planning.
* Leverage best-in-class business planning tools (Microsoft applications, management systems, ERP and associated software).
* Site owner for truck appointment scheduling system (includes ship confirmations, railcar release documentation, appointment scheduling, correcting shipping document errors, etc.).
* Collaborate with Operations at Marble Hill site and HEM Central logistics to manage distribution of finished products by truck-to-railcars at the transload facility.
* Site owner for service failures/error free shipping defects. Lead reporting, root cause investigation, and corrective action implementation.
* Automate repetitive aspects of supply chain functions.
* Ensure inventory accuracy through cycle counting programs and lead the reconciliation process.
* Audit, collaborate with HEM Central Logistics on, and provide corrective actions pertaining to proper cargo securement policies and shipping items necessary for compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills
* 4 year Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain/Logistics, Business Management, Engineering preferable. Relevant work experience could be considered in lieu.
* Minimum 3-5 years hands-on experience in logistics operation (rail/transload/truck/repair).
* Established experience in warehouse management, cycle counting, data integrity.
* Intimate knowledge of and hands-on experience using ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, etc.).
* Excellent analytical skills and better than average proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel).
* Demonstrated problem-solving and decision quality skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively across functional lines without formal authority to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and make consequential decisions.
* Highly effective people and leadership skills.
