Training Fab Process Engineer
Contract: Full Time/Fixed Term
Purpose of Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Training Fab Process Engineer to join our team and lead efforts in semiconductor process education. Reporting to the Head of Group, you will coordinate and deliver training programs in semiconductor materials science and device fabrication technologies. This includes developing and delivering tailored courses for diverse client groups, ranging from introductory sessions to advanced workshops. You will also oversee the development of training materials, demonstrate processing techniques, and manage laboratory operations while ensuring compliance with health, safety, and quality standards. The role offers an exciting opportunity to enhance technical education and contribute to the development of future talent in semiconductor fabrication.
Key Responsibilities
1. The preparation for and delivery of Semiconductor Materials science and Device Fabrication Technology lectures
2. Demonstration of tool operation and processing techniques in the Training laboratory at Tyndall
3. Development of a range of courses to suit different client groups, ranging from ½ day course for an overview presentation of lab techniques, to 1 week course for post graduate students
4. Work with Business Development team to develop a Continuing Professional Development Course, CPD, for external academic and industrial clients
5. Where appropriate - course work is corrected and marks awarded are posted to the relevant department / student records office in UCC/Tyndall
6. All administration associated with the Training course and preparation of costs and invoices associated with the various teaching modules.
7. Development of appropriate documentation (eg manuals) for each of the fabrication sub processes
8. Promotion of the Training facility and to be proactive in this role
9. Respond to user access and training requests in a timely and professional manner
10. Induction of all lab users and management of access records
11. Review or proposed process activities within the training fab
12. Implementation and monitoring of safe working practices within laboratory areas
13. Ensures that performance status information on equipment/process is available through the accurate recording of all information on electronic work flow systems and other documentation as appropriate
14. Provide written and verbal reports as required
15. When required and as training fab schedules allow carry out process engineering duties in other fabrication laboratories
16. Ensure all activities are compliant with the Tyndall Quality Management System
17. Ensure all activities are compliant with the required Health and Safety standards including generation and review of Risk Assessments (RAs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training records
18. Carry out any additional duties as may reasonably be required within the general scope and level of the post
Essential Criteria
1. Masters in a science or engineering discipline
2. Typically a minimum of 3 years of experience working as a process engineer in a semiconductor fabrication facility
3. Extensive knowledge of one or more semiconductor fabrication technologies eg Photolithography, Electron Beam Lithography, Plasma Processing etc
4. Track record in preparation of material for training
5. Experience in delivery of technical training programmes /lectures/tutorials
6. Experience of delivery of hands on process/tool training
Desirable Criteria
1. Evidence of entrepreneurial experience
2. Evidence of creative skills/creativity
3. Experience with DOE

Appointment may be made on the Senior Technical Officer Scale B salary scale €64,587 - €75,961 per annum. Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
