Job Description
The Medical Council is recruiting a Quality Improvement Executive Officer to join the Education and Training Directorate for a 12-month fixed-term contract.
This role will take the lead on quality assurance of medical education and training in Ireland across all stages of professional development, from undergraduate to specialist training.
The Quality Improvement Executive Officer will report to the Quality Improvement Manager and work on cross-directorate projects led by the Head of Quality Improvement. They will also provide administrative support to the Director of Education and Training, including acting as dedicated administrative support to the Education and Training Committee.
Key Responsibilities:
* Apply standards, legislation, and frameworks relevant to inspections and accreditations.
* Support daily administrative functions of a significant change programme, including coordinating meetings, liaising with stakeholders, collecting and analysing data, reporting outcomes, drafting reports, and providing project team support.
* Arrange, schedule, and support meetings, managing attendance, taking notes, drafting minutes, and other tasks.
* Assist management in drafting high-quality reports and committee papers to agreed timescales.
* Organise, execute, and support specific tasks and procedures in Education and Training in line with the business plan and operational policies.
* Compile and distribute information and documentation as required.
* Coordinate travel and accommodation arrangements.
* Provide administrative support to the Committee as needed.
* Prepare briefing papers, research material, and website content, including data analysis.
* Maintain relevant databases and ICT systems, including document filing.
* Respond to correspondence received via the directorate email or escalate as necessary.
* Participate in continuous improvement within the directorate and wider organisational projects as required.
Essential Criteria:
* A minimum of 2 years of satisfactory experience in an administrative role, including experience in an organisation operating within a statutory framework.
* Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, and diary management).
* Experience writing minutes or reports is essential, with publication or sharing with third parties desirable.
Desirable Criteria:
* A third-level qualification is desirable but not essential.
* Project management qualifications and/or project support experience would be advantageous.

Appointment Details:
This appointment will be offered on a 12-month fixed-term contract with a 6-month probationary period. The starting salary is €33,812, which is the first point of the Executive Officer PayScale. Salary increments will occur annually, subject to satisfactory performance, until the maximum point on the scale is reached.
The role includes 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a hybrid working model allowing for remote work and on-site attendance one day per week. The Medical Council offers a pension through the Public Sector Scheme, and contributions will commence upon joining the organisation.
