Provides management and technical leadership for safe turnover of the DCS scope of work to support gated process to start-up and hand over.
Understand all project related Safe Systems of Work, isolation and permit requirements to identify actions which may result in a violation of such systems, escalates risks and issues to the DCS Lead when necessary.
Assists the DCS Lead in development of the programme providing necessary input relating to DCS systems for safe implementation of commissioning/start-up strategy, execution plan and schedule delivery to integrate with other disciplines.
Familiarises with the project DCS design specifications and technical drawings.
Familiarises with DCS hardware and software equipment ensuring system security and access protection hierarchy levels are set up as relevant to other users.
Plans and directs the DCS works sequentially by system in compliance with the Program/Schedule ensuring activities comply with Health, Safety and Environmental standards of the project and relevant laws.
Assists the DCS Lead in production of procedures, method statements and work packs for the DCS scope of work.
Provide leadership and high-level DCS systems expertise and advanced process control techniques for process optimization.
To liaise with the I&C Lead and other systems Lead engineers to coordinate works including instrument and valve set up, Function Testing, interlock and alarm management verifications, for the check out, start up and commissioning of the associated plant and equipment.
Attends and actively participates in the project daily and weekly commissioning meetings.
Manages fault finding and rectification processes within the time constraints of the programme.
Train other qualified personnel in the safe proper, effective use, maintenance, and troubleshooting of DCS systems and networks.
Complete and provide all testing and verification documents to support the handover process.
Provide “As Built” red line DCS drawings and documentation reflecting any changes or modifications to the DCS software or system hardware.
Maintains software backups on a regular basis, suitably commented within the DCS programme software to reflect modifications.
Support the Project Manager in enforcement of contract terms & Conditions through interactions with contract executives and site supervisor.
Support the DCS Lead in evaluating project performance and in managing change.
Provide detailed information to the DCS Lead for the preparation of the site startup portion of the Monthly Project Execution Report.
Prepare a Project Daily Report to the DCS Lead as required.
Maintains a daily log of site significant activities.
Support the Project Manager & Project Controls Manager on schedule, cost forecasting change orders and any project related claims.
Address site startup risks that arise on the project as a result of the DCS Scope of work.
Drives continuous improvement of compliance monitoring to define pre-emptive actions.
Ensures quality assurance, integrity and consistency of all DCS activities.
Other duties as assigned by the DCS Lead.
