Financial Accountant Job Description
This role offers a 12-month contract with the possibility of extension, providing a hybrid working structure in Dublin City Centre.
The Financial Accountant will report directly to the Reconciliations Manager and be responsible for:
* Preparation of monthly income reconciliations, including analysing and investigating variances and EMV associated merchant fees;
* Contributing to the design of monthly reports, including reporting KPIs to management and other departments;
* Financial analysis, reporting expertise, and financial support to the business;
* Continuous improvement of financial reporting processes through review and documentation of the as-is processes and designing and documenting the to-be processes;
* Responsible for contributing to the annual budgeting and forecasting process for various projects involving finance reconciliation;
* Assisting in the creation and enhancement of procedure manuals and standardisation of processes;
* Liaising with other Finance teams and finance stakeholders on a regular daily basis;
* Assisting the Reconciliations Manager to ensure data protection and retention policies and procedures are documented and implemented;
* Supporting system development and upgrades within the finance function;
* Attending relevant project update sessions and acting as designated finance representative;
* Participating in UAT and all associated testing of systems and processes, working closely with Project Test managers;
* Supporting the development of internal finance portals and business partnering reporting;
* Assisting the Authority on other ad-hoc items as they arise.
About the Person We're Looking For
We require an individual with a proactive approach and good analytical skills.
The ideal candidate has experience working in a multi-priority and matrixed organisation(s) and some experience working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience with working across a finance project is desirable but not essential.
* A recognised accounting qualification with a minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience or significant work experience in an equivalent role;
* Experience with the preparation of management accounts, reconciliations, and annual financial statements;
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate and interact effectively with finance and non-finance stakeholders;
* Ability to work on own initiative, as part of a team, and as leader of a group;
* Good analytical ability with a logical approach to problem-solving and sound judgement;
* A keen eye for detail and desire to probe further into data;
* Capacity to proactively and constructively contribute to team tasks;
* Strong organisational and administrative skills;
* A can-do approach with the ability to organise and prioritise workloads to meet deadlines.
Requirements
Strong MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint essential); experience working with finance automation tools desirable but not essential;
Experience working with finance ERPs (MS Dynamics/Agresso experience desirable).
