Job Description
This position involves the start-up, normal operation, monitoring & shutdown, and maintenance of clean utilities. The responsibilities include WFI, clean steam, bulk gases, bulk chemicals, process water generation, boilers, chillers, chemical dosing systems, cooling towers, air compressors, LPHW skids, waste water treatment, biowaste inactivation skids and other mechanical equipment to provide utilities for buildings or industrial processes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Observe and interpret readings on gauges, meters, and charts to ensure equipment is operating properly.
* Switch from automatic to manual controls and isolate equipment mechanically and electrically to allow for safe inspection and repair work.
* Maintain daily logs of operation, maintenance, and safety activities, including test results, instrument readings, and details of equipment malfunctions and maintenance work.
* Monitor and inspect equipment, computer terminals, switches, valves, gauges, alarms, safety devices, meters to detect leaks or malfunctions and to ensure that equipment is operating efficiently and safely.
* Analyze problems and take appropriate action to ensure continuous and reliable operation of equipment and systems.
* Clean and lubricate equipment and auxiliary equipment where necessary, making minor adjustments as needed using hand tools.
* Perform or arrange repairs, such as complete overhauls, replacement of defective valves, gaskets, bearings, or fabrication of new parts.
* Operate facilities equipment and auxiliary equipment, such as pumps, compressors, and air-conditioning equipment, to supply and maintain steam or heat for buildings and to meet industrial processes.
* Activate valves to maintain required amounts of water in boilers, adjust supplies of combustion air and control the flow of fuel into burners.
* Test boiler water quality or arrange for testing and take necessary corrective action, such as adding chemicals to prevent corrosion and harmful deposits.
* Adjust controls and/or valves on equipment to provide power and regulate and set operations of systems or industrial processes.
* Monitor boiler water, chemical, and fuel levels, making adjustments to maintain required levels.
* Contact equipment manufacturers or specialists when necessary to resolve equipment problems.
Requirements
To be considered for this opportunity, you should be qualified to National Craft Standard with a minimum of 2+ years' experience in a similar role. Additional relevant experience may substitute for educational requirements.
