Assistant Financial Controller
Objective of the Role
The Assistant Financial Controller will support the Financial Controller in ensuring the efficient and effective running of the finance function within the hotel. This includes managing controls, maintaining compliance, and ensuring high-standard reporting. They should provide business acumen to both internal and external parties, mitigating risk and seizing opportunities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Commercial Focus
* Review costs to identify areas for cost savings and implement processes to achieve them.
* Collaborate with other departments to understand KPIs.
* Analyze margins and suggest improvements.
* Prepare and review weekly revenue and payroll forecasts.
* Lead the month-end process.
* Champion daily meetings with Heads of Department.
People Focus
* Support the Financial Controller and General Manager as a trusted advisor.
* Assist in developing training plans and courses for non-financial managers.
* Foster relationships with Heads of Department and staff.
Controls and Compliance
* Evaluate and maintain robust financial controls and procedures across the hotel.
* Examine Internal Audit Reports and agree on corrective actions.
* Promote technology adoption and efficient practices.
Month End
* Prepare the Month-End Lead Schedule.
* Reconcile balance sheet control accounts, including accruals and prepayments.
* Manage income audits to ensure accuracy and completeness.
* Collect debts on a timely basis.
Requirements:
* Ambitious, confident, and professional individual with strong communication, organizational, analytical, and management skills.
* Accounting experience, preferably in hospitality, food & beverage, or retail.
* Qualified or part-qualified accountant.
* Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
* 2-3 years' experience in an accountancy role.
