Staffline are seeking a Senior Engineer (Operations) to join our operational management team for roles in Clare and Offaly. The successful candidate will oversee the management, maintenance, and development of infrastructure within a designated operational area, while also playing a key role in liaising with stakeholders and enhancing recreational use of the canals. This position involves managing operational staff, consultants, and contractors, and contributing to new projects and refurbishments. Operational Management Supervise operational staff for maintenance and construction projects, ensuring compliance with safety standards and conducting risk assessments. Manage consultants and contractors on company property to protect and enhance canal assets. Conduct site surveys, asset inspections, and prepare reports, designs, and tender documents for maintenance and construction projects. Oversee project planning, progress, and budget management to ensure timely and quality delivery on both land and water. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate and deliver strategic work packages. Monitor and manage navigational water levels, ensuring accurate reporting and coordination. Facilitate community and recreational activities, working with event organisers, volunteer groups, and other user groups to increase recreational use of amenities. Ensure compliance with Bye laws and serve as an Authorised Officer for navigation and land property management. Health & Safety Apply health, safety, and welfare legislation relevant to maintenance and construction work. Conduct safety inspections, risk assessments, and toolbox talks in line with company policies. Serve as Safety Supervisor and undertake public risk inspections, identifying hazards and implementing necessary corrective actions. Environmental Responsibilities Liaise with environmental bodies to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and directives. Incorporate environmental considerations into project planning and execution. Strategic & People Management Contribute to the organisation's policies, strategies, and business culture, ensuring high-quality service delivery. Provide project financial and progress reports. Foster productive working relationships internally and externally, collaborating with statutory authorities, local organisations, and other stakeholders to ensure customer satisfaction. Key Requirements: Relevant engineering qualifications and proven experience in operational management, infrastructure maintenance, and project oversight. Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations. Excellent communication skills to engage with stakeholders, contractors, community groups, and local interests. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver within time and budget constraints.
