Head of Operational and Capital Finance

I am currently seeking a senior professional with 10+ years expertise ideally in utilities or equivalent highly regulated sector with very strong business partnering, finance and capital projects experience. The ideal candidate will have experience leading large teams and working with and supporting senior direct reports, be a strong communicator with the ability to support and work with the business stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Lead the focus and drive continuous cost efficiency in both operation costs and capital investment, ensuring that cost reduction plans and performance monitoring are in place to achieve company targets.
2. Oversee financial analysis supporting strategic and operational initiatives, ensuring alignment with existing capital and works, embedding project finance rigor, return on investment, and best practices for specific capital and operational projects, budgets, and plans.
3. Review, challenge, and provide all investment business cases via the investment management team.
4. Act as a strategic advisor and lead interface between business areas and finance teams, managing, shaping, and supporting a consistent finance service provision.
5. Lead teams to deliver top-class finance business partnering capabilities for operational and capital expenditure along with financial investment modeling and scenario planning to ensure the wider organization can deliver on its strategic objectives and commitments.
Required Experience & Skills:
1. Relevant third-level qualification and/or accreditation is desirable and/or relevant experience.
2. A minimum of 10+ years’ experience in the water, utilities, or similar industries is desirable, along with 5+ years working at a senior manager level.
3. Excellent leadership and people skills required, with a demonstrable ability to attract and develop a high-performing committed team.
4. Significant leadership, change & transformation experience ideally in a utility, regulated industry, or multi-stakeholder environment.
5. Able to work to deadlines and adapt to changing conditions and ambiguity, generating effective and pragmatic solutions to new situations and problems as they are presented.
6. Ability to quickly establish credibility and respect and build strong working relationships, influencing effectively at all levels, both internally and externally.
7. A proven track record of working in a commercially focused environment and collaborating across multiple functions and business areas.
8. Excellent communicator with the capability to handle complex and difficult situations with thought and confidence.
9. Proven track record of successful delivery against Business Objectives within a complex and large organizational context and demonstrated ability to align resources across these environments.
10. Strong negotiation skills with a win/win mindset.
11. Financially and commercially astute.
12. Experience of implementing policies, systems, and controls and overseeing the implementation of progressive policies.
