Our client is a prominent player in the steel industry, recognized for its innovation and commitment to quality. With a recent investment in a new product line, the company is expanding into modular construction, providing units designed to house critical infrastructure. To support this growth, we are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee and coordinate all aspects of modular unit production, from procurement to client delivery.
Position Overview:
The Project Manager will be responsible for managing the successful delivery of modular units from design through to production, ensuring that all project elements are executed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience within modular construction, managing complex projects, coordinating with multiple stakeholders, and maintaining communication with end clients.
This role involves hands-on management of the modular production process, including sourcing, procurement, subcontractor management, and quality assurance. The Project Manager will serve as the main point of contact for both internal teams and external partners, ensuring that the project scope is adhered to and that all elements are ready in line with the production schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for end clients, providing regular updates on the progress of modular manufacturing, addressing any concerns, and ensuring satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
Procurement & Resource Management: Ensure that all materials, components, and resources required for the modular units are sourced and procured in a timely manner, aligned with the production schedule and project deadlines.
Quality Assurance: Ensure that all elements of the modular units meet the company's high-quality standards, performing regular inspections and coordinating with the quality assurance team to maintain consistency and compliance with industry regulations.
Subcontractor Management: Oversee and manage external subcontractors, including electricians, mechanical installers, and other key service providers. Ensure that their work aligns with project timelines and quality expectations.
Project Scheduling: Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, ensuring all activities are completed on time and flagging potential delays or risks.
Budget Control: Manage project budgets, ensuring that all expenditures are tracked and aligned with approved financial plans, and work to minimize any cost overruns.
Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with internal teams including design, engineering, and manufacturing, to ensure smooth project execution, timely problem-solving, and collaboration.
Risk Management: Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation plans to ensure project objectives are met without compromising timelines or quality.
Reporting: Provide regular reports to the Modular Department Manager on project progress, financial status, and any issues or opportunities for improvement.Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in project management, with a strong focus on modular construction.
Proven ability to manage large-scale, complex projects with multiple stakeholders and subcontractors.
Strong understanding of procurement processes and experience ensuring timely delivery of materials and services.
Experience working with subcontractors, particularly electricians, mechanical installers, and other trades relevant to modular construction.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively manage client relationships and team dynamics.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and maintain attention to detail.
Experience with quality assurance and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera, etc.).
Demonstrated ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.Preferred Skills:
Experience within the steel industry or prefabricated modular construction.
