The Organisation:
Preparatory work in setting up Bergerie Trust CLG commenced in 1990. We aim to provide accommodation for vulnerable and older adults (male & female) who are capable of independent living from the Limerick area. The board of Bergerie Trust CLG is comprised of volunteers with a wide range of expertise, and two Good Shepherd Sisters.
The Trust derives its name from the French language - Bergerie is a Shepherding term.
The Role:
Bergerie Trust CLG are seeking a Charity trustee with a Governance background. If you have experience in this area and want to play a key role, we’re keen to hear from you.
General Trustee duties of a Charity Trustee:
1. Comply with the Charity’s governing document
2. Ensuring charity is complying with its charitable purpose for the public benefit
3. Acting in the best interest of the charity
4. Act with Reasonable Care and Skill
5. Manage the assets of your charity
Responsibilities of the Governance Trustee include the following:
1. Inputting to the strategic direction, contributing with insight, oversight, and experience of strategy formulation in other sectors.
2. Assist with the creation of strategic plans which will comply with current legislation and practice
3. Advising on corporate governance
Desirable skills:
1. A Qualified Governance professional such as a Solicitor or Barrister with at least 5 years’ experience. Expertise in areas such as Employment and Commercial Regulations would be an advantage.
Board Meetings:
There will be eleven board meetings a year. Meetings are held in Limerick City. Some meetings can be held over Zoom or Teams.
