Location: Head Office/ Various Sites in Northwest/West & Midlands Regions
ROLE: Mechanical & Electrical Coordinator
As an M&E Coordinator with Kilcawley Construction, you will report directly to a Contracts Manager and assist Project Managers in effectively procuring, managing, and handing over mechanical and electrical subcontractor scope as part of larger building projects. The role involves actively participating in the safe, timely execution of works in accordance with project budgetary, programme, and quality requirements.
General Responsibilities
* Support the Contracts Manager and Project Managers in delivering mechanical and electrical components on large building projects valued from €3m to €20m.
* Serve as the first point of contact for M&E subcontractors and the Design Team regarding queries.
* Chair and produce minutes for fortnightly MEP Coordination meetings with M&E contractors and the design team to review programme, progress, and design matters.
* Maintain oversight of commissioning progress/programme, particularly for safety-critical systems required for Practical Completion.
* Conduct snagging of M&E installations and record findings using an iPad App.
* Coordinate BIM activities of M&E services across contractors and produce M&E installation drawings as needed.
* Ensure all MEP Inspection reports are addressed and closed as works progress to ensure compliance with BCAR.
* Communicate actively with MEP specialists and consultants to ensure timely issuance of BCAR and O&M/Safety file documents prior to handover.
Health and Safety Responsibilities
* Ensure safety-critical mechanical and electrical installations are fully functional before handing over a building to a Client.
* Deliver works safely, supported by the Site Manager, H&S Advisor, and Contracts Manager, in accordance with legislative requirements.
* Assist M&E contractors on-site to execute works as per their approved method statements and risk assessments.
* Report all safety incidents and/or accidents to the Safety Advisor and Company Directors as per company protocols.
* Support the company’s goal of Zero Harm on all worksites.
Technical/Quality Responsibilities
* Oversee the successful delivery of multiple projects from both time and commercial perspectives.
* Ensure projects are delivered on time and snag-free to the satisfaction of the Client.
* Possess a good technical understanding of HVAC systems, lighting and emergency systems, LTHW systems, electrical distribution, and commissioning of integrated building systems.
* Coordinate with Contracts Manager, Site Engineers, and Services Coordinator to ensure timely and accurate information for subcontractors and site personnel.
* Resolve unexpected technical difficulties and problems arising from revised details or on-site situations.
* Ensure all materials and work performed meet specification and drawing requirements.
Management Responsibilities
* Act as first point of contact for day-to-day M&E subcontractor and Design Team queries.
* Liaise with consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors, and general workforce for timely project completion.
* Monitor progress against the Contract Programme and escalate any delays or risks to the Site Manager.
* Assist in the production and revision of contract and sub-programmes with the Contracts Manager and Planner.
* Maintain professionalism while protecting the business's position.
What You Need
* Relevant third-level qualification (Engineering - Mechanical/Electrical).
* Previous Main Contractor experience is desirable.
* Flexibility to travel to various project sites.
* Clean Driving License.
