Microbiology Trainer
We are seeking an experienced Microbiology Trainer to co-ordinate and support the development of our Microbiology Analysts at our Galway base.
This role will report to the Associate Director of Microbiology and will play a key role in developing and delivering comprehensive training programs to new and existing analysts.
Responsibilities:
* Contribute to and implement robust training curricula for microbiological testing techniques, lab protocols, and industry standards.
* Provide input to training materials such as manuals, SOPs, presentations, and hands-on practice guides.
* Deliver both theoretical and practical training sessions to analysts.
* Train analysts in all aspects of pharmaceutical and medical device microbiology including environmental monitoring, endotoxin analysis, bioburden, water testing, etc.
* Evaluate trainee performance through practical assessments, exams, and observation.
* Provide constructive feedback and support to help trainees achieve proficiency.
* Certify analysts as prepared for deployment to client sites.
* Manage the day-to-day supervision of microbiology analysts prior to their placement with clients, including allocation, scheduling, and managing of required lab resources.
* Review analysts documentation, data, and lab investigations reports, deviations, etc.
* Adopt a coaching style, to encourage performance and confidence and provide feedback to analysts on how they are performing.
* Attend update meetings on the status of current analysts – weekly reporting of trends and KPI management.
* Emphasize adherence to regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 17025).
Requirements:
* Bachelor of Science Level 8 degree, or a related field.
* Approximately 3 years of experience in a microbiology laboratory setting with good manufacturing practice experience.
* Ideal prior experience in training, mentoring, or supervisory roles.
* A background in delivering lab based training.
* Proven supervisory skills.
* An organised, efficient and detail-oriented approach.
* Initiative and the desire to continuously improve.
* A 'can-do' approach and comfortable in a fast paced environment.
* Proficient in microbiological techniques and maintaining compliance with relevant standards.
* Familiar with laboratory equipment and software commonly used in microbiology labs.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
* Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
* Willingness to travel occasionally to client sites if needed.
