Financial Controller with view to Finance Director – Dublin 2 – salary up to €90,000 +/- doe
This boutique construction company has been in business successfully for over 90 years. It has a reputation for excellence which is largely delivered by very loyal and proactive staff members. This loyalty and commitment to excellence has resulted in some staff members achieving over 30 years of service. The Finance Director is one of those staff members. He is due to retire in the next two years, hence there is now a need for a Senior Financial Controller to join the team with a view to stepping into a director and potentially partnership role.
Responsibilities
* Work with current Finance Director to understand the day-to-day running of the business.
* Manage and develop two financial assistants – working on the month-end process from AP to AR to General Ledger and Reconciliations.
* Own the payroll vendor relationship, liaising with HR on BIK etc., and being the point of contact for internal payroll queries.
* Become the main point of contact for external Auditors.
* Full ownership of banking relationships, month-end, board reporting, treasury, cash flow, and company secretarial duties.
* Deliver balance sheet accuracy.
* Oversee bank reconciliations and fixed asset register.
* Ensure VAT, Tax, and RCT are always up to date on ROS.
* As this is a construction company, insurance upkeep is essential across property, motor, personal, and many more areas.
* All fleet management falls under the responsibility of the Finance Department, as well as IT.
Requirements
* Accountancy qualification is essential. Construction sector experience would be preferred.
* Communication is key – this role will work with a variety of stakeholders from Bankers and Auditors to Site Foremen and Project Managers.
* Each project is treated like its own entity; hence experience of Work In Progress (WIP) reporting would be ideal.
* This is a small company where each person has more than one responsibility; the successful candidate must be comfortable to ‘roll with things’ from time to time. This role will probably not suit someone who needs 100% structure and a lot of support.
Remuneration
Up to €90,000 plus bonus up to 15%, parking (it is office-based at least 4 days per week), pension, and health cover allowance. Annual leave 24 days.
