Our client is seeking a Professionally Qualified Social Worker to join the Psychiatry of Later Life Team in Mullingar. This is an excellent opportunity to work with older adults experiencing mental health challenges, providing essential social work interventions that support their well-being and recovery.
Role Overview
As a Social Worker on the Psychiatry of Later Life Team, you will support older adults and their families by offering psychosocial assessments, therapeutic interventions, care planning, and advocacy. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, ensuring a holistic and person-centred approach to care.
Key Responsibilities of the Social Worker
* Provide comprehensive psychosocial assessments and care planning for older adults with mental health conditions.
* Support patients and families in navigating services, accessing resources, and making informed decisions.
* Deliver therapeutic interventions tailored to the needs of older adults.
* Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, nurses, occupational therapists, and other professionals to ensure integrated care.
* Advocate for patient rights and ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centred services.
* Maintain accurate clinical records in line with HSE policies and guidelines.
Essential Criteria for the Social Worker
* CORU-registered Professionally Qualified Social Worker (PQSW).
* Experience working in mental health, older adults, or similar settings is desirable.
* Strong knowledge of mental health legislation, safeguarding policies, and social work interventions.
* Excellent communication, advocacy, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
