The Role
Due to our continued growth, we have an exciting opportunity available within our Deal Advisory department. We are seeking to expand our capabilities and expertise and are looking to recruit a Deal Advisory Senior and/or Assistant Manager. The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant who possesses a high degree of commercial awareness and attention to detail.
This role provides strong candidates with the opportunity to become a key part of a rapidly growing area of the business and offers highly attractive career development and progression opportunities. The Deal Advisory department in Grant Thornton has extensive experience in all aspects of deal advisory from mergers and acquisitions, transaction advisory services, valuations, raising capital and debt and business planning.
The role will comprise of the following activities:
1. Work on financial due diligence engagements related to acquisitions or divestments by private equity investor groups and strategic corporate players;
2. Provide support on lead advisory M&A projects, MBO/MBI assignments (IM preparation, financial databooks);
3. Assist on valuation engagements (constructing valuation models including: DCF, comparable company analysis, stock options, Purchase Price Allocations (PPAs) / Intangible asset valuation);
4. Create robust and flexible financial models (including 3 statement forecast models and sensitivity analysis);
5. Work with clients to prepare business plans in line with their organic/in-organic growth strategy;
6. Assist the wider team on debt advisory engagements;
7. Liaise with various stakeholders - clients, targets, financial institutions, legal advisors, etc.
The successful candidate will possess:
1. A qualified accountant with ACA, CFA or equivalent qualification;
2. Prior experience in deal advisory, audit or corporate banking;
3. Strong understanding of GAAP principles (IFRS and Irish GAAP);
4. Advanced skills in MS Office – Excel and Power Point; experience in use of databases such as S&P Cap IQ Pro, Mergermarket, Bloomberg etc. is advantageous;
5. Fluent English, other European languages are advantageous;
6. Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to write clear, concise reports;
7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
8. Strong interpersonal skills;
9. Highly motivated, with a proven ability to work on own initiative within a challenging and dynamic work environment;
10. Strong team player with good organisation and planning skills;
11. Strong time-management skills and ability to work towards deadlines;
12. Actively pursuing self-learning, on the job training and knowledge from other team members.
