Role overview:
Reporting to the Factory Site Maintenance Manager, the Utilities Electrician is responsible for managing and maintaining the utilities supplies and work systems for the plant. The Utilities Electrician will work as part of the utilities group responsible for the operation and maintenance of the utilities systems on site. As a Utilities Electrician, you will be responsible for responding to all operational associated issues on utilities equipment. You will also carry out routine maintenance as part of the site wide maintenance system.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Management and monitoring of plant central support utilities, including borehole and mains water supply/mains LV electrical supply/gas supply/compressed air network system/steam generator/CHP unit/back-up generators/asset protection system/fire alarm system/gas and CO detection system/BMS/EV charging stations/lighting systems/HVAC systems.
2. Observe all safety and compliance procedures and actively highlight any safety concerns to help drive the reduction of accidents or near misses.
3. Assist the Health Safety team in carrying out risk assessments of new existing machines and ensuring training is rolled out to the Maintenance Team.
4. Fault finding and diagnostics on all utilities equipment as listed above.
5. Testing of electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
6. Recognize and report to immediate supervisor any facility, utility, process or equipment anomalies and/or deviations from accepted standards.
7. Manage service contracts for site utilities, liaising with contractors during site visits.
8. Complete and conform to all training requirements for job role, including company-required and role-specific training.
9. Ensure P/M software system (Pemac) is managed and up to date with contractors’ information and utilities service reports.
10. Provide technical input into system optimisation, equipment development and new equipment selection.
11. Provide status updates on maintenance activities and operational challenges according to defined procedures.
12. Seek process innovation and continuous process improvement in overall plant areas.
13. Ensure corrective action is taken, as required, for all equipment and operational problems to drive continuous improvement in the Plant.
14. Develop/update SOP’s /OPL’s as required for utilities operations.
15. Co-ordinate and manage scheduled shutdown activities on utilities plant equipment.
16. Key member of the Energy Management Team with ownership of system field devices and hardware.
17. Maintenance support for the WWTP operation team.
18. Support working groups with obtaining compliance with occupational health and safety standard ISO 45001, environmental standard ISO 14001 and energy standard ISO 50001.
19. Any other duties asked by your manager.
Skills and Experience:
1. Skilled in electrical discipline merit attained, 3rd /4th year apprenticeship applicants welcomed.
2. Experience with Medium and Low Voltage electrical systems including testing and inspection. Knowledge and understanding of M-Bus and Modbus communication network systems.
3. Have working knowledge/ experience with a “Lock -out Tag-out” programme.
4. Experience with CHP operation, heat recovery and plate heat exchangers.
5. Experience with back-up generator system operation including G10 control.
6. Experience with Energy Management and BMS systems for monitoring and measuring energy consumption.
7. Experience with P/M software system (Pemac).
8. Experienced in process control and motor wiring and testing.
9. Understanding of compressed air network systems and operation.
10. Experience with water treatment processes for treatment of iron, hardness etc.
11. Understanding of wastewater treatment plant process flows.
12. Understanding of fire alarm systems and ability to read address layout, graphics display and detection values.
13. Strong communication and influencing skills.
14. Pro-active and comfortable with challenging current practices and processes.
15. Willing to be part of team and support colleagues when required.
16. Safe pass, working at heights and confined space certification.
